5 countries, 6 cities, 5 modes of transportation, and a lot of potatoes, or, travel week #2 recap

It has been a MINUTE since I posted!!!!! But I’m back and I hope y’all are ready because this is about to be a super fun week here on the blog.  I just returned from my second travel week break and, as you can see from the title, had a time and a half on about as many modes of transportation possible.  My mom came and visited me for the week, which was SO. MUCH. FUN.—I got to show her around Copenhagen for the first few days and then we packed up our bags and headed off on our Scandinavian adventure!

We’d planned that my mom would come visit during the second travel break since well before I arrived in Copenhagen—but where we would go was another question!  We bounced around a ton of ideas before finally settling on the Scandinavian countries: Norway, Sweden, and Finland.  Because my core course wasn’t going to Aarhus (in Western Denmark) like many other programs, I knew I wanted to go there as well so I could see a new part of Denmark!

Many of my friends and apartment-mates did fjord tours in Norway earlier this semester and their pictures were stunning, so I knew that would be our stop in Norway.  We planned to go to Stockholm in Sweden, and then round out the trip with a visit to Helsinki, Finland.  As we started planning, I noticed that many blogs about trips to Helsinki included information about taking a ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn, Estonia, for the day—and I figured why not!

Was five countries in seven days a little bit ambitious?  Probably, yes.  It was a lot of early morning flights (think 4am wake-ups, multiple times) and too many museums to count—but it was so worth it.  I have officially confirmed that Scandinavia has my whole heart, and Denmark is still, unequivocally, my favorite.  ❤️🇩🇰

Stay tuned this week—like I said, it’s going to be a fun one!  I hope your email inboxes are ready!  Each day, I’ll be posting about one of the cities that we visited: Aarhus, Bergen, Stockholm, Helsinki, and Tallinn.  They’ll be a mixture of the narrative style post I’ve done more while here in Copenhagen and the travel guides that are kind of a mainstay on this blog!

If you have any questions about our trip, please feel free to drop me a line—I’d love to chat!  Either comment down below or send me a message with the “Let’s be friends!” tab above!

  1. I’ve never been to those countries so I’m looking forward to reading about your experiences and seeing your photos. I’m really impressed with your early bird energy! Same goes for your mom!
